#1:. Android Phone
I’m starting with the Android because it’s the most popular it’s the most popular mobile OS on earth. And most smartphone users are on Android.
To turn your Android phone into a Wi-Fi Hotspot,
- First go to your Phone Settings.
- Go to Wireless and Networks.
- Then to Tethering and Mobile Hotspot.
Now you’ll have to setup the new wireless network you’re creating. You have to give it a Name and a Password (that’s optional).
- Select Setup Wi-Fi Hotspot
You can now input the name of your new network in the Network SSID field.
In the field “Security”, choose WPA2 PSK. if you leave it Open, everybody can find and connect to your network with your knowledge. And who knows the amount of your data that’ll go down the drain.
Using WPA PSK or WPA2 PSK allows you to protect your network with a password so you can have control over it and to choose which devices can connect to it.
- You’ll now create your new password and then “Save”.
Now tap to turn on Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot to make your hotspot active.
You can now search for, and connect your laptop, tablet and other gadgets to your Wi-Fi network using the password you created for the network. Devices connected to the network will now use your phones data to browse.
