MTN Mobile Money allows you save, send and receive money on your mobile mobile phone. Similar to the mobile banking services offered by your bank except that Mobile Money requires no bank account. Your MTN phone number alone is enough and it doesn’t really matter the type of phone you’re using, you can still make use of Mobile Money.

How to register for MTN Mobile Money in Ghana
Before you even think about opting-in for MTN Mobile Money, you need to be using MTN simcard. Then you get any of your ID cards ready. It can be your National ID, Voter’s ID, Passport of NHIS Card. They all are means of identifying you.
- You now need to visit any authorized Mobile Money merchant close to you, carrying along any of your ID’s for the registration.
- The merchant gets your details and does his part of the registration process.
- Most merchants usually charge a small cedis for this (mostly 5 cedis in Accra). Take back your ID when he/she is done.
- The next step will be to confirm your registration and then set your Mobile Money a pin code.
You will receive an SMS asking you to go to your Mobile Money menu to complete your the registration process.
Dial *170# on your phone and then select “Register”, choose your ID type and enter your ID number.
You’ll now be prompted/asked to choose your preferred pin code, and you’re done. You can now send, receive, pay your bills and fees all on your mobile phone, with your mobile number.
